Redaction Room is designed so your source media and redaction work stay on your device.

Who operates Redaction Room

Redaction Room is developed and operated by Garrett Templar. Privacy questions can be sent to garretttemplar@gmail.com.

Data the developer collects

Redaction Room does not require an account and does not operate a developer media server. The developer does not collect your source photos, videos, documents, audio, recognized text, face locations, code contents, redaction locations, protected exports, device identifiers, analytics, advertising identifiers, or usage history through the app.

Information processed on your device

When you choose or capture an image, Apple on-device frameworks can look for faces, barcodes, QR codes, and visible text. Local rules may suggest IDs, contact details, sensitive numbers, addresses, links, or license plates. Document pages use the same local image-review workflow. Automatic video analysis detects faces only; other video details require manual masks. Video object tracking uses Apple Vision after you select a region. Audio redaction is manual and does not transcribe speech.

Temporary files and deletion

Imported audio, video, and documents may be copied into a file-protected temporary session directory so they can be decoded and edited. Redaction Room removes its session directory when the editor closes. A temporary protected export may exist while the system share sheet is open and is removed afterward. iOS may separately manage picker, playback, codec, clipboard, Photos, and share-sheet caches under Apple’s controls.

Photos, camera, and files

The system Photos picker provides only the items you choose. Camera and microphone access are requested only when you choose to capture media. Add-only Photos access is requested only when you save a protected copy. File access is limited to files you select through the system picker. Redaction Room creates a separate output and does not modify or delete your original.

Purchases

The optional Redaction Room Pro lifetime purchase is processed by Apple through StoreKit. Apple handles payment, account, tax, and transaction information under Apple’s policies. The app reads Apple-signed transaction status to determine whether Pro is unlocked and does not operate its own payment system.

Support messages

If you contact support, the developer receives the email address and information you choose to send. Support messages are used only to respond, troubleshoot, prevent abuse, and maintain necessary business records. They are retained only as long as reasonably needed for those purposes. You can request deletion of a support conversation by emailing garretttemplar@gmail.com. Do not send sensitive source media; use a fictional or safely recreated example.

Children’s privacy

Redaction Room is not designed to collect personal information from children. The app has no developer-operated account, advertising system, analytics service, or media upload service.

Security and limitations

On-device processing and flattened exports reduce disclosure risk, but automatic detection, object tracking, document conversion, and manual audio selections can miss information. Blur and pixelation may reveal shapes. Redaction Room is a consumer editing utility, not certified redaction or guaranteed anonymization software. Review every protected result before sharing.

Changes to this policy

If the app’s data practices change, this policy and its effective date will be updated before the changed version is released. Material changes will also be described through the App Store version information or inside the app when appropriate.
